How to publish an App on Google Play Store


In order to publish an Android App on Google Play Store, you need to have a Google Developer account ( https://play.google.com/apps/publish/signup/ ). Anyone can create a Google Developer account for a one-time fee of $25.

In order to get the .apk file that will be uploaded on Google Developer website, you need first to submit the app from Application Dashboard > Ready to Publish.

 You may request the "Instant Build" or "Build & Publish" option during the submission process.

Once you finished the submission process of the app, you will receive a download link for the Binary File on the Email address that was registered within the platform. The download link can also be found in Application Dashboard.

Download the Binary File. It will be in .zip format. Unzip it and find the .apk file inside - called "app-release.apk"

If you selected "Instant Build" during the submission process, you will receive the download link for the binary file within one hour.

If you selected "Build & Publish", you will receive the binary file within 2 business days. Also, we will add screenshots for the application inside the zip folder.

Once you have done all the above mentioned steps, you can publish the app on your Google Developer account.

Step 1. Login on your Google Developer console account https://play.google.com/apps/ and select "Add new application"

Step 2. Set a title for the application and then upload the .apk file which is located in the zip folder you have downloaded from your App Domination account.

Step 3. The next step is Store Listing. Here you need to set the Application's Metadata (title, description, screenshots, etc).

   a) Title, Description and Promo Text. The end user will see the Application Title, Description an Promo Text on Google Play Store. The Promo Text field is optional. If you complete this field, then you need also to upload a Promo Graphics Image.

   b) Screenshots.  You can upload up to 8 screenshots for each supported device platform; phone, 7-inch tablet, and 10-inch tablet.

To publish your Store Listing, you must provide a minimum of 2 screenshots.

  • JPEG or 24-bit PNG (no alpha)

  • Minimum dimension: 320px

  • Maximum dimension: 3840px

  • The maximum dimension of your screenshot cannot be more than twice as long as the minimum dimension.

c) Icons, graphics and promo video. To publish your Store Listing, a High-res icon is required. This icon is used in various locations on Google Play.

High-res icon requirements:

  • 32-bit PNG (with alpha)

  • Dimensions: 512px by 512px

  • Maximum file size: 1024KB

The Feature Graphic is used for promotions on Google Play. This is an optional setting.

  • JPEG or 24-bit PNG (no alpha)

  • Dimensions: 1024px by 500px

The Promo Graphic is used for promotions on older versions of the Android OS (earlier than 4.0). This image is not required to save and publish your Store Listing.

  • Dimensions: 180px by 120px

Promo Video

You can add a promotional YouTube video to Google Play by entering a URL in this field. While a Promo Video is not required, it is highly recommended as a fun, engaging way to show your potential users the features of your app.

d) Categorization, Contact Details and Privacy Policy.

Categorization. Here you need to set an Application Type, Category and Rating. The Google Play ratings system consists of four levels:

  • Everyone

  • Low maturity

  • Medium maturity

  • High maturity

Contact Details. This information will be visible on Google Play website for the end user. He may contact you via the Email or website you have set here. 

Privacy Policy. If you have a Privacy Policy URL, set it here. If no, then check the box for "Not submitting a privacy policy URL at this time"

Once you are done, click on the "Save" button to save the changes made for this section.

Step 4. The next step would be Pricing $ Distribution. You may set a price tag for your app (or free). You may also select the countries where the app will available.

Step 5. If you are using In-App Billings in your app, then you may create them here. Follow this tutorial to do the In-App Billings.  Skip this step if you do not have In-App Billings in your app.

Step 6. You may set a License Key for your App in the Services & APIs section. Here you may find the License Key for your App.

Copy this key and paste it on App Domination platform in App Dashboard > Application Settings > Platform Specific Options .

 The Application License Key will make the app only download-bale and workable from Google Play Store. The app will not work if it is downloaded and installed from any other place.

Skip this step if you do not need this setting.

*Note that in order use this setting, you need to set the Application License Key on App Domination platform before submitting the app. 

 

Step 7. Once you are done with all the steps, you may publish the app. If the "Publish this app" option is not available then it means that you have missed one of the settings from the above mentioned steps.

Once the app is published, it will be available on Google Play Store in 2-4 hours.
